OptiStep

The stepper motor driver unit

Image

The stepper motor driver unit OptiStep has been designed for middle-class stepper motors. Operating modes can switch between 4 and 5 motor phases, which allows for motors of all brands to be used in the final phase. The card approach has been facilitated by using impulse sequences with fixed or variable frequencies. Acceleration and break curves are computed by an integrated processor. For track control, automatic generation of the blending radius between subsequent direction vectors is supported. The interpolation is computed on a 62 kHz raster. Since the frequency is considerably higher than the maximum step frequency of motors, a smooth running is ascertained. MOSFET exits allow a chopper frequency of 62 kHz, which promotes soft and low-noise movement. The flexible voltage scale of 24 to 48 V makes the integration into different systems feasible.
